Does anybody know why? I can't find any info why, how or when this came about.

I hate to pump my own gas and so I deliberately drive over the "border" to fill up.

I will say I never complained down there in Southdown when they pumped my gas... Maybe it is because Huntington over the years has become more of a service orientated town. I don't remember the gas being that much higher per se if at all.

The one and only thing I miss about living in NJ... full service gas everywhere and it was CHEAPER too!

Actually, the town board recently review this law and decided to keep it in place. They cited safety reasons.

I don't mind the law, but I was wondering what prompted the law in the first place.

Was there an incident or accident that happened years ago?

There was a terrible incident in Texas where a woman was burned to death when a spark from the pump and the friction of her getting into her car caused her to catch on fire.

And that promoted Huntington to enact the law? Most likely that since people cannot even figure out how to drive their Hummers, BMW's, and Mercedes (those are the cheap cars) that not pumping their gas is probably a good ideere.

I have seen the people with the above cars drive away with the gas noozle still in their cars and drive away thinking they had "full service"....
