Hello,

I'm a single computer software professional, looking to move from Suffolk County to Nassau County. The following criteria are important to me in my search:

- Close to shopping / groceries / LIRR
- Close to various interest clubs, events and activities
- Reasonably safe neighborhood
- Diverse and/or tolerant of possible differences
- Monthly rental price should be up to $1,350 without utilities, or up to $1,500 with utilities

Thanks.

The only two real cities in Nassau are Long Beach and Glen Cove. They both fit your requirements.

Try Hicksville or Baldwin. I have coworkers there and they are satisfied living there. Try Mineola too, though not that diverse.

Your budget may be an issue in Nassau. Too low.

Long Beach would work. Glen Cove would fit your budget, but the LIRR line there (Oyster Bay) is atrocious, so it wouldn't be my first choice (or my 51st choice) if you need to use the LIRR regularly. You may be able to find something in Mineola as well, and that would also fit all of your requirements, as would Farmingdale.

how large of a place do you need? You might get a studio in great neck near LIRR & shopping.

Ditto Mineola. Kind of middle of most thing. You are close by LIRR and Mall. There are couple restaurant with bars are nice there. Not far from city.
