Or maybe, she is 33 years old, and in a good spot to advance her career, and has to prove that she is serious about the company. Her boss probably likes her, and the fact that she is reliable, because despite that fact that happens, and life goes on, come to work.
(Purely speculating her age, based on the '81' in her user name)

If you stayed with friends or family, then it is reasonable.
If you had to stay at a hotel at your own expense, that was not reasonable, unless you have an extremely high paying job, and the business absolutely cannot function without you. I do not think that is the case for you.
Money is not the issue. I came on board knowing I have to be at work in these kinds of situations. Obv there are exceptions - clearly being dead would be an exception - also if I was in the ER or something obv then I would not be expected to come in... But for a strike, that doesnt count as a viable enough excuse. I am not alone on this and if I was the CEO i probably would not accept it either. There are ways around it - drive, or stay in the city. People saying they cannot get into work just either arent trying hard enough or dont care enough to try.

I just don't feel that you should have to pay for a hotel at your own expense to get to work when the strike is through no fault of your own, unless you are a CEO who can easily absorb that cost and who the business can't run without. In my opinion, rank and file employees should not be expected to pay extra money out of their own pocket, beyond normal commuting expenses, just to get to work and put money in somebody else's pocket. Just my opinion.

That is fine, but that should not be forced on everyone else who wants work-life balance.

Oh snap girl! Do you work on a trading floor? That's the kind of mentality the guys in my former role had....they found a way, always. Wishing you luck though with your work ethic, you don't need much of it.

Awww shucks! <3
And Mits thinks I'm a doormat, hah.
Just a girl trying to grab the world by the lapels I suppose. Women need to take charge & stop letting men have the upperhand in business all the time.
