So commuters are going to start getting screwed earlier? This isn't going to end well. I'm not looking forward to driving anywhere while this goes on.

There were 2 mediations that the union agreed to, but MTA said no....they haven't made changes.

I assume the LIRR will reimburse riders on a per diem basis for the days they have paid for service and service is shut down? If not, any attorneys that ride on a daily basis wanna slap the LIRR with a class action lawsuit?

I kinda hope they strike for Sunday only and leave all of the Hamptonites stranded! Nothing worse than a Friday afternoon in Penn during the summer.

because the union refuses to get off the idea of 17% over 6 years and not making changes for future employees.

I just want both the Union and the MTA to sit in the room together until they come to some agreement. This whole, "take it or leave it" and then walk away from the table thing is garbage.

I totally agree. Unfortunately the MTA chief won't do that. The union showed up, he said no to new terms, and left. How's that helping?

I didn't see anywhere that definitively said the MTA left the talks. Except that when the LIRR says "Take it or leave it" and the MTA can't agree to the terms, I can see how that presents an impasse.

This can't all be pinned on the MTA, seriously. I'm not pinning it on either party, but the LIRR Is working really hard to pin it all on the MTA when it's just not true.
