Wednesday news is FALSE. They may start preparing, but it wont affect your experience.

Also, a LIRR strike will have a HUGE impact on NYC, the residents just dont realize it yet. A few days and tho. now silent people will start screaming to get LIers off their roads, subways, and buses. DeBlasio will certainly have his hands ful.

You don't think if we had less union-liking leadership (aka Republicans) in office, us commuters wouldn't all be scared to death of Cuomo stepping in and giving in to the unions? The same Cuomo who sold his soul to get the Working Families Party endorsement?

I'm not saying anything except what I said. I paraphrased an LIRR employee. He claims they have already started. They can take as long or short as they like to "fully wind down the system" (like I even care). I forgot around here actually commenting on what a real source had to say isn't as acceptable as crotchety opinionated posturing.

Again, Wednesday shmendsday but he told me his maintenance lot is practically shut down already. I'm sure no maintenance shouldn't affect service...much.

Different party affiliations, same empty heads and cash lined pockets.

Personally I am not a fan of Cuomo regardless of party affiliation....I am not sure how he even was voted in office. Mario was also a doofus

Wasn't Bloomy a republican during the NYCT strike?

Come on! We all know Bloomberg was never a Republican. He ran on the republican ticket. Although I have to say that he handled the unions very well during his years. But I guess having a fiscally responsible business background works.

I can't believe the deal De Blasio made with the teacher unions in NYC. That will a financial nightmare for years to come.

There is a big difference between shutting down for sandy and this. During sandy the LIRR had the full staff of employees on hand. This shutdown is leaving them with a skeleton crew of managers, many of which are scared to death of the equipment and yards and have already stated "I wont be doing any of this" to fellow employees. They need us to shut it down, run the schedule and make sure everything can be brought back up as quickly as possible. OT is basically unlimited in some depts right now.

More like managements answer to fix everything. It is management that asks for OT to be worked. Don't fault the workers for putting in extra hours when its offered and sometimes even mandated.
