Can you share some of the backstory? I don't know much about this (other than some signs I've seen in protest).

Old Dairy Barn/Oak Tree dairy plant being sold to builders to build 55 and over town homes for sale (not rent). Original proposal was for over 450 homes, dropped down to 360, and after much fight scaled down to 250+ homes. Town residents concerned with density, traffic, safety related to traffic, pollution, water supply, overcrowded school district as a result of seniors selling and moving in to the complex. Watch public access TOH meetings to see the debates going on about this.

I just don't get the point of zoning if they are going to downgrade anything they chose to do so.

Petrone is running this town like the biggest bully! Did you see the video of the meeting? He purposely moved the vote on this development to avoid public commentary. He constantly yells at people who disagree with his opinion and threatens them with being thrown out of the meeting. This time an older woman was "escorted" out of the room!

With all the downzoning and three story apartment buildings being approved, we are fast becoming a small city rather than a nice quiet suburban village we've always been. The monstrosity going up on Gerard St. is overwhelming as you drive by. Approvals have gone through for three story retail/apts at the old ice house property, at a building on NY Ave just north of Gerard also. Construction is ongoing behind the CVS up in Halesite. I've heard that the building owner at the location of the fire on NY Ave by One Stop is requesting approval for a three story retail/apt building.

Where does this end?

Minor detail, where are all these people going to park? Like parking isn't a huge issue in the village already.

Oh, now I read that Petrone wants a tall office building built next to the "boutique" hotel he wants at the train station! What the heck? He's padding his pockets big time.

Meanwhile I watch the meetings where homeowners are denied variances over such silly things and notions.

I'm baffled as to why or how he won the election.
