Right. "They" can barely predict the weather correctly for the week and people are supposed to trust a yearly forecast? Wow. December cold? Early and mid-January cold? Shocker. Who'da done thunks it would be cold in December and January with some snow. So I suspect next summer will be hot, hazy, and humid. At some point.
It is going to snow on December 12 and 29, January 3-5 and 17, then again on February 2, 4, 11-13, and then on March 4, 6, and a little more on the 12th.
Let me know if you need to know anything else.
We'll, could you tell me if you have always been a tool, or is it a recent development?
I purchased a big Ariens snowblower about 8 years ago. Its made me more friends in the area than I can count. I even put snow chains on it with drift cutters. I just put the hammer down and keep walking till I'm at the end of the block and just did 10 houses. On the way back to my house, I'm usually rewarded with hot chocolate and sometimes if I motion to the retired Irish firefighter, he'll spike it with a couple drops of booze. Makes for a nice early morning start to a chilly day.
Same prep as usual, snow tires on the car because I drive 50-60 miles a day for work, but can often work from home if needed, only if something is blowing up at work do I really need to go in.
Similar to other posters, three fridges/freezers stocked with food year round, thanks to an extreme couponing wife, 30 gallons of gas in storage with Sta-bil, 20 gallons of diesel for the TDI and generator is run once every few months to get lines from gelling up.

I like to start stockpiling scotch for those snowy winter days. Yes, a nice oak-aged scotch will deliver you from the middle of brutal, grey, depressing NY winter.
I really hope this is a snowy cold winter, I too have been reading since the summer about how this winter will be for the record books and I would love to see that since I am an avid skier and boarder. However I agree with the posters who say that the meteorologist can't get next weeks weather right how in the world do they know who it will do in 2 to 3 months.
So I am not confidant at all, I think it will be somewhere in between actually. And if October is any indication they are completely wrong! Mid 80's through October 15th! That has my bummed out completely! I say bring on the COLD!

When someone asks if they are preparing for something that can't possibly be known about the future, I respond in that matter. No one knows what the winter will bring. NO ONE.
What are you expecting to hear, people stocking up on food, water, supplies, snowblowers, shovels, etc.? It's New York...it gets cold, it snows sometimes. Deal with it.
