That bill is crazy! We have a gas stove, a gas bbq and a gas firepit and our bill was nearly that amount. And we really USE our gas appliances. Hopefully they can figure it out. Good Luck!

Why is it my problem? I didn't extend the line from the house to the gas pipe. The utility dug it out and set the pipes.

If the leak is on your property it's your responsibility. I don't make the rules.

That price sounds right, you should just pay it.

Not everyone budgets properly and the sticker shock is overwhelming to some. That's why I suggested he ask for a payment plan to ease the stress.

If the leak was there, wouldn't it be before the meter?

August was a weird month. I heard lots of people's bills in the $10,000's, so by comparison, your bill is a steal. Such is life on Long Island.

Perhaps the payment plan would be best in your situation. Can you just keep your usage to a minimum?

The previous bill was under $28! This happened after they changed the meter. I got a notice on the bill the charges reflect a meter change.

This is why I get do frustrated with a certain potential home buyer on this forum. He doesn't get the type of bills associated with owning a home over and above the mortgage. My neighbor paid over $63,000 for gas alone last year.
