Hempstead is a struggling school distict and yesterday the folks in hempstead voted for change and elected a new school board member and got rid of long term school board president Betty Cross. Betty was part of a lot of corruption in the district politically and finally the state education commissioner got involved.
Do you see hope in the future?

I see a changing of the guard in some school districts. With the increase of the Hispanic population we will see more and more districts predominantly run by certain BOE members getting replaced by Hispanics. It started in Hempstead and Wyandanch is next where the population is now over 50% Hispanic. For once...change may be good.
