still no check ! I called Albany today and the response from the person I spoke to was "We had to send out many more checks than we anticipated, that's why it's taking so long".
I wonder if the cold weather up in Albany causes a brain freeze haha.
Anyway, I realize it's only a hundred bucks or so, but the hold up bothers the heck out of me. If I was to owe the state a nickel, they would come after me and charge me 12% interest from the due date. I jokingly asked the operator if I would get a little extra when the check finally arrived. She did not find that funny.
A serious question: Since I will (hopefully) be receiving this check in 2015 now, do I still have to claim it on my 2014 return since it's a 2014 rebate ? Or do I wait and file it on my 2015 return ? Arghhh.
Happy New Year everyone.
Unless you cash check by 12-31-2014 not on this years tax return
Thanks for making the call, lifetimeliguy. Such a ridiculous response - they hopefully budgeted for this way back when and knew exactly who would be benefitting from it and for how much. We had the largest tax increase we've ever had this year..would love to pay my taxes late and say, " oh, I had so many more bills this year than I anticipated" and see the reaction!

You should get whatever that increase was back. Seems like everyone else who got no increase or won a grievance etc got 75-100 bucks. The formula for that is on the dept of taxations website.
