Awesome! I did't expect that many reply, thank you all!
Where we are now high schoolers have 10 minutes break in between lessons and the schedule is the same for every kid. That's why it seemed to confuse some of you.
I am glad they prioritize every kid's preference ( i mean in US).
So my understanding is if my son into Biology and chemistry he can skip taking history or any other class?
Correct me if I am wrong.

No, he can't skip anything. There are requirements for graduation. He may have to take certain classes that his 11th grade peers already finished in order to meet graduation requirements or he may not take certain classes that his 11th grade peers are taking because he already took the equivalent class when he was in high school overseas. If you were originally from New York, then you understand about the regents diploma. That is also something that you need to look into when you call your prospective school. He may also need to make up credits by attending summer school. Check out the NYS high school graduation requirements. There are different types of diplomas, but they all require 4 years of English and Social Studies.

Not entirely, there are some English and History requirements that he won't be able to get out of, but once those requirements are done, he's free to take any classes he wishes.
This makes sense... a historically illiterate population would be doomed.
Well, no. New York State has math, science, art, music, physical education requirements for graduation and then there are additiional requirements depending on the type of diploma. If your son was in an IB program, there are some high schools on Long Island that offer IB as well and that could make the transition a little easier. If he is intending to continue on to college in the US, you need to look at what most 4 year schools require for admission.
