We get a bill every other month. This last bill was 280.00. Summer bills are around 350 for 2 months

Yes and no. More poignantly, its about cost per btu. And therein addressing efficiency, whether shell or machine, is the only way to reduce btus, cost will follow.

resides in a much colder climate than most of NY state. High KwH cost is basically on parity with areas prone to extreme cold climates.

Just paid bill, so thought I'd post...
1700 sq ft colonial. No central air. 3 thru' wall A/C units. Ceiling Fans and portable fans run all summer long. Electric cooking/dryer.
At any point 2 devices are charging. Inventory - 2 laptops, 2 tablets, 2 cellphones, 3 TV's, overhead projector.
Usage - Not extravagant, Not Conservative either (constantly reminding kids to turn off lights when coming down in the morning).

Monthly average over past 6 years = $102.

not too far off... about $110 a month for years.
