Dear all, my daughter was about to enter high school next summer.
Just got offer from both St. Anthony and Long Island Lutheran. One is a huge school while the other one has a better reputation i guess?

Still considering which one to choose! Prefer St Anthony but was worried about the huge numbers of students.

Any suggestion will be helpful!
Thanks!

Save your hard-earned money and send the kid to public and let her get used to the real world.

That protective bubble is gonna burst one day anyways!!

One factor to consider may be the college acceptances for the graduates of each school:
http://www.stanthonyshs.org/WebObjec...s/colleges.pdf
Lutheran Middle & High School - Academics - College Acceptances - Long Island Lutheran

You can also look at the school profile:
http://www.stanthonyshs.org/WebObjec...oolProfile.pdf

I can't find a similarly detailed school profile on the LuHi site but maybe you have one already--sometimes they give them out when you tour the school? There's a short one here:
http://longislandlutheran.org/high-s...ng-for-college

Good SAT scores are not the only reason for choosing a school. But look at the list in the link below and sort it by SAT scores highest to lowest (just click on the arrows at the top of the column for "Total score"). St Anthony's mean score of 1637 and LuHi's 1645 are quite close to each other and place them in the top 20, higher than 100 of the 118 schools on the list.

Thanks for your suggestion.
We've considered this for a while and finally made the decision to go for private! It is a hard move!

While those info indicate a close level! Not sure if we have some guy graduate from one of them? or maybe familar with the place?
Probably they have some reputation in local?

I have never heard that Lutheran has a 'better' reputation or that it is more selective. You have to determine which is better for your particular child, Folks here don't know your child.

Which one is closer? Schools used to have a 15 mile busing limit-not sure if it still applies. Do you really want your daughter sitting on a school bus for 90-120 minutes a day staring at her phone?

I think they are close reputation wise. I knew a lot of guys who went there in college (used to be all boys). No bettere educated than me in public school one had to go to remedial English before being placed in English 101. As someone said pick the one your gut tells you to go with for your child and also is geographically suitable to you.

SAT scores are a functioning of studying and tutoring. Parents who send their kids to private HS are certainly going to pay up for expensive tutoring.
