The storm should be taken seriously and everyone should stay off the roads tues no doubt about that and take basic precautions. But some people are just ridiculous this isn't a category 3 hurricane or even a tropical storm. But hey if running to get bread, milk, and standing in line to top off gasoline makes one feel better prepared have at it.
Remember last year's storm and all of the commuters stranded on the LIE?? I am all set.. did my food shopping Friday. I have beer, wine and vodka as well. Filled both vehicles with gas today and filled 1 five gallon and 2 one gallon portable gas tanks as well. I have 2 snow blowers and a shovel. I also bought extra gloves and 2 hats as well today at Kohl's. I heard 18-24 inches of snow but either way it sucks. Luckily my job is very close. My husband works in a truck parts place in GC and they have contracts with a lot of towns that use snow plows so my husband will be very busy tomorrow.
Now I am hearing Suffolk might get up to 3 feet!! Well I am working from 8 am to 3 pm tomorrow and it will take me 5 min to get home. Tuesday is another story. If my job is open Tuesday I am not killing myself to get there at 9am and If I can't get there I will call my boss.
To avoid having to shovel snow, I filled two five gallon containers, one with diesel and one with gasoline. What is the best way to spread it over the driveway? If I put some down with a sprinkling can before it snows will I still be able to light it if there's a foot of snow on top? I figured I could do this every 4-6 hours during the storm, just wondering if getting a good base down would help have a more even flame? Do I use all gasoline or layer it like a frosty lasagna?

Get a pump sprayer, probably around 25 bucks. Use that to spritz the driveway. You will have to repeat as needed depending on accumulations. This only works for the first few inches. Don't spray to close to the house.

Let's get a pool going.
How long before the News reporters are at Home Depot and the super market interviewing shoppers about the stores being out of shovels, snow blowers, and milk?
