I live in East Massapequa and just want to know if any one has been sucessful with getting their kids out of Amityville school district and into Massapequa schools. I had to put my 7 th grader on home school because of the torment he suffered while attending the Middle school- He was in Catholic School before but they could not give the educational help he required . He had to go on Medication and everything-- All they keep on offering me is Bocess Scools- He doesnt belong in this type of setting- If any one can help please let me know
Don't think so, Massapequa tends to have some pretty crowded schools as it is (though not as bad as it was since they moved the 9th graders from Berner into their own school) but considering the large student body that exists within the district borders I doubt they would let anyone outside of the borders into school. Regarding torment, stuff like that unfortunately happens in all schools, good & bad, rich & poor its not something that discriminates. it happens everywhere.

You might be very surprised by the BOCES programs. It really would not hurt you to give them a look. I know it is hard to accept, but some kids just are better off in alternative programs. This is not a reflection on YOU. My daughter was also bullied , but had a very positive experience in probably the very school that they would like to try out for your son.
Best of luck to you . I know that it is very very difficult.

i dont't want to sound racist but massapequa schools is pretty much completely white i graduated with one black girl, if it was up to me i would let e mass in but theres to things stopping it. 1 the school is already over crowded i graduated in 05 with 560 kidsn the halls were [acked n my brother is in 9th grade now n has 700 kids in his class they don even no how they r going to fit all the kids now they might have to open a second high scool. Besides haveing to many kids already the school disrict doesnt want a mixed school its completely white n they like it that way, i don care either way but i agree that its ridiculous hat ppl that live across the street from berner cant go there
