Can't rep you again but you made me LOL. My kids were born in the spring/summer so I'm not a redshirting parent. Like I said, it really depends on the child.

So being the youngest, smallest kid all the way through high school sucked for getting laid, but it was more than made up for once I hit med school. Chicks dig doctors. Just send your kid to school, they are not that special.

Also, although I was a runty asian kid, I still played 2 years of varsity football for the Great Neck South Rebels... not that great of an accomplishment since we sucked anyway, but it just shows there is no point in redshirting.
Great Neck South is home of White Men Cant Jump Basketball. If it was not for the Hughes sisters winning Olympic medals for ice skating I dont think Great Neck and famous sports figures would be something that would ever be mentioned.

There's a tradition in Garden City, it might be present in other districts as well, to hold back boys born in the Fall so that they aren't the youngest in their grade and aren't at a disadvantage in sports.

I have a late December child, have no problem with the December 1st cut off. He'll start Kindergarten at 5 which sounds about right. I'd rather he have the extra year of enrichment in a play based nursery school before the nonsense that Common Core has created.

Agreed, which is why a dude like me could make the football team. Garden City always kicked our ass in football.
The Hughes are not even Great Neck South, they are from Great Neck North.

Although there was one GNS Alum that ended up playing wide receiver for the Chiefs, I don't remember his name, but his photo use to be up in the trophy case by the principals office.
