Since not all subcontractors are the same to begin with, talking about door installations is a lot different than carpet installers. There's zero chance you'll be getting those guys who effed up.

You can do way better than HD on carpet price. We went there for carpeting and were shocked at the prices. It pays to shop around.

Yea I understand what your thinking about "effing up a job"... One of the main reasons for purchasing from HD was the free installation (included in the price). We have used smaller private contractors in the past. A lot of "BIG TALK" in the beginning, but when it comes to doing to actual job......lol..

Like MTAtech says above - Home Depot stands behind the workmanship.

I used Home Depot to source an central air conditioner repair/installer. It was flawless. Performed a complete inspection of my system. Diagnosed the problem. Gave a very thorough and complete quote. Installation was easy and quick. Financed through Home Depot for 18 months. Free money and a new CAC unit.

HD and Lowes can be solid options for random jobs around the house that are too big to do yourself, but too small for a reputable contractor. If something goes wrong, you can typically get it corrected after spending some time complaining to customer service or whatever. Good luck getting the small independent guy to do that.

Aw guys, you're gettingme nervious. Was just at Home Depot Westbury and pricing a new front door. Pretty sure that they will need to rebuild the doorframe and will see that when they come to measure. Not all big companies have good customer service, but hope that what you say about H.D. is accurate.

UPDATE: HD was a bust for the projects we wanted done. We went through a recommendation to refinish the floors. We found a local carpet store that had a better selection and was able to install ASAP.
