I know We are in the "political" season. We do have a separate forum for political discussions. Discuss politics there. We all know there are local issues. But let's not try to turn Every Topic into a Political talk. Simple.

I agree. Leave the blood bath to the Politics forum.
We'll really hate each other in no time flat if we bring that crap in here.
[quote=long isle;43968823]Hold on. It's ok to blast a mentally disabled poster unmercifully but, any meaningful debate is frowned upon?[/QUOTE
That person you are referring to started that thread all on his own & even said he expected to be attacked & That thread you can see is CLOSED. AND that poster is nowhere to be seen.Forget that poster..he asked to be forgotten about anyway. Just trying to keep future threads with the political season upon us to a minimum. There is no reason to turn every topic political in the LI forum.
If the mods feel they may set-up a temporary political sub-forum for politics. Debate in a political forum for debates
Great point. However, you apparently fail to realize that political debate on the internet (and most other places) is rarely (if ever) meaningful.
To be fair, there really isn't too much political debate at all on this forum. Sociological discussion shouldn't be a problem and seriously, this forum is so slow, it's not hindering any important thread or discussion. If you don't have anything to add don't click.
As someone who posts quite frequently on the insanity that is the Politics board on here I don't think there is anything wrong with having some discussion on this board. With that being said, it shouldn't take over the board. If we have some discussion on here, it should be kept into a couple threads. I also don't see why we shouldn't be able to discuss some local issues or local elections because that would basically get lost in the shuffle on the main board.
