Rockville Centre is very diverse, tons of blacks, spanish and white living together.

Blacks in projects towards Malverne, Spanish above stores and in Two family houses near train and whites in Old Canterbury. But they all go to school together so the school system is diverse.

I almost bought there and the inspector who I knew but did not know my wife asked me if I had some Jungle Fever going when he saw all the "diverse" folks

This is true. I don't live in the communities you've mentioned, but I have witnessed my daughter's more well-off friends and classmates upload pictures during their vacations in Europe.

I live in Greenlawn and I am very good friends with neighbors-- in fact closest to a couple whose house backs ours. They are 30s, both work, no kids. Just because I have kids doesn't mean I have no other interests. They are just fun people, they like to garden, cook, etc. and so do I. They're always nice to my kids. After dinner last night kids were out playing with neighbor kids and the mom and I were chatting.

Grew up on LI and still keep in touch with friends from the neighborhood. We practically lived in each other's houses. My parents' neighborhood has a big block party every year and it is very friendly. Maybe I looked for that when I bought because it was what I had growing up.

I know this is sort of a tangent but if you want friendly just check out the neighborhood before you buy. Talk to people.
