Just moved here and would like to know what are some good seafood shacks here?
My wife is craving the type of seafood shacks you see all over New England, Cape Cod, etc.
Not looking for fancy dining, and willing to try anywhere in the island.

Jordan's lobster and South shore fish market, both in Island park are pretty good. I love seafood shacks myself, and we have been die-hard fans of Randazzo in Brooklyn, so it took a while to find comparable place. Another hint, if you love mussels, and want to go a bit fancy, Waterzooi in Garden City is amazing. Damn, now I am craving some fried clam strips!

The ShackTheShack25A

Great place, open air seating, hole-in-the-wall with great seafood.

Try Southside Fish & Clam in Lindenhurst. Jordans lobster as mentioned above is pretty good too.

Hi feeling adventurous then go to Flushing (close enough?) where Bourdain tried some live octopus!

Not many left. Even in New England they are drying up all over. My wife and I were talking about it. First the legit Jewish delis and also the old school seafood shack places (fisherman's platter types, lobster bake, real fried clams w/ bellies, not the frozen strips crap...etc). Popeis is a decent replica. On the water the last bastion I know is City Island in the Bronx. On LI the ones mentioned above are probably it. Bummer. This is the time of year that cries out for it. I love Randazzo's but it's really more of an Italian restaurant than a "seafood shack." And you might have to take out a 3rd mortgage to pay for a dozen little necks and a beer!

Lido Beach Deli is like last of Jewish Delis, used to be one in every town in Nassau
