Baldwin always gets a bad rap, but the schools are good and the area is starting to change for the better. A brand new police precinct is being built in Downtown Baldwin and different types of White owned businesses are starting to pop up there. The average home in Baldwin will run you in the mid $350's to $mid $450's. You can pick up a fantastic looking home with a large backyard and it doesn't hurt that Rockville Centre is right next door. Trying buying a home like that in Merrick or Lynbrook and you would easily pay an extra $150k-$200k on top of that. Your money goes further here and I think people are starting to realize that.
I agree. I have noticed the same trend. Those that say the schools are unusable for whites are pretty much showing their true colors. Those same people may even have the nerve to recommend East Rockaway or Lindenhurst.

A town that's 15% minority may be fine to many white buyers, but 50% minority would definitely scare most off regardless of how good the area is.

Keep in mind that i'm talking about white buyers, not renters. Renters usually have a more relaxed criteria on where they choose to live since they can easily just pick up and move.
I get what you're saying, but that doesn't mean it's not a good option for white buyers, it's just that there's a misguided mindset that many people might have.

I totally agree. I'm white and I went to Baldwin schools from K-12 (I graduated from Baldwin High School in 2013), my experience was great.
