Apparently a Dodge Charger is now racist, sweet tea and saying bless your heart is next.

I mean I guess I should say thanks to the northeast agenda with your liberal elitist progressive ideology. Do you now see how socialism, being too liberal and accepting to everything is not always a good thing?

We live in the year 2015, why do we still have divide between us and our African American brothers and sisters, we're supposed to be United as our countries name implies.

The Confederate Flag is part of our past and instead of hiding from it we need to face it and use it as a learning tool to ensure that we as Americans stay United despite being black or white and never allow slavery or any other type of hate toward one single race to happen in our country ever again.

History is something to learn from, I loved studying it, we can take down flags all day, we could see the General Lee to the junkyard, we can blame guns, cancel tv shows, but until peoples hearts stop being filled with hate tragedys like the church shooting will continue to happen wether a flag flies or not.

Its not a flag, or a car, or rock and roll music, its people, people with mental issues, people that are just cold and willing to kill.

Lets stop blaming what is not the cause.

Well for starters, they get 2 days a year where the govt and nearly every business shuts down - Christmas and Easter.

They get one day a week where the govt and nearly every business is closed or they open late - Sunday.

All the blue laws. Stuff you can't buy on Sunday.

Many states, including Texas, you can't buy beer on Sunday until noon - of course, that's when church let's out. Some counties you can't buy beer even when it's not Sunday. For religious reasons.

The words "In God We Trust" is on our money.

The words "One Nation Under God" is in our pledge of allegiance.

Anybody who tries to tell you the religionists, particularly the Christians, are losing their religious freedom in this country, tell them that's a bunch of nonsense.

"Religionists" LOL. My favorite faux oppressive label is 'meatists", those are the folks who oppress vegetarians by eating meat or some claptrap like that.

Interesting examples. Each is an example of how this country was founded by "religionists." None of what you cite is new... it all goes back to the roots of this country, which was founded on Western/Judeo-Christian principles by people of strong faith.

At this point it is tradition. Blue laws exist as a leftover fragment of a long-gone time. Not that long ago, most all stores were closed on Sunday. Aside from antiquated liquor laws, there is nothing preventing a store from staying open 24/7, Sunday included. We have crazy blue laws in NY - I don't know of one religious group who would fight having those corrected. There are many strange old laws still on the books which have nothing to do with religion.

BTW, the no booze until noon on Sunday has roots in public hangings... those were often performed at noon on Sunday and they didn't want people showing up drunk.

As my union friends are always quick to remind me, we have labor unions to thanks for weekends (2 days each week where business are closed), vacations and holidays like Christmas and Easter. We also have federal holidays for Independence Day, Labor Day among others. The feds choose days off based on the most commonly accepted days. If you don't celebrate one or more of the holidays, you don't have to. This is not catering to anyone - all workers get to enjoy the day off and can spend it in any way they wish. If you want to have a business that is open on Christmas or Easter - no one is stopping you. Feel free to work 365 days a year. What's wrong with picking Dec 25 when that is what most people agree to? Why should we cater to an "anti-religionist" to change it to a random day which has no significance to anyone?

"In God We Trust" and "One Nation Under God" - why does that get some people all up in arms? It's only words. If you don't like them, ignore them. Your money spends the same either way. Regardless, this is hardly "catering" to any group. It is a tradition which reflects the history of our country. Again, this country was founded by religious people coming from Europe where the rulers ran countries by "divine right." There is no escaping that religion runs deep in the roots of western civilization. Acknowledging that is not catering to anyone.

We are actually catering to the counter-religion movement. Every time someone has to defend Christmas as a recognized holiday or "In God We Trust" on currency it is catering to the oppostion. Are we catering to the "Washingtonians" by keeping George on the $1 bill? Are we catering to the Communists by recognizing Labor Day as a holiday?

It's all payback for the white Christian bullies who went around picking on everyone for a few hundred years.

THE FLAG IS NOT A SYBOL OF RACISM!

That's like saying that a 9mm Glock is the symbol of terrorism.
The flag was never, ever created to be racist or a symbol of racism.
People's PERCEPTIONS and INTERPERTATIONS made it so.

Roof wore Nike shoes in the pictures that are online.
So it's just as crazy for me to say that we remove Nike pictures, because that's a symbol of racism.

You might be onto something there. Like bad Chinese drywall, mercury containing children's toys, and poisonous Chinese dog food, these made in China Nikes might be the root of all evil!

The flag has become a symbol of racism because it has been adopted by those who hate just like the swastika was corrupted by Nazi Germany. Peoples perception are based on the flag use by the KKK along with most white supremacists. The battle flag of army of northern Virginia was flown by an army representing a force that was in conflict with the United States. It represented a government that viewed blacks as slaves and nothing more, they lost they don't get to have history presented in their view point.
Flying the flag on state capital grounds started during the civil rights movement, gee what message could they be trying to deliver????
