Want to move to Long Island from Brooklyn. Looking to buy a house (up to $500,000), but don't know much about neighborhoods. Any recomendations? Thanks.

How about thinking about what your own non negotiables are and work from there. Are schools important, commute, family nearby or distant. We need more from you to help you narrow the island down other than budget.

I want to be in Nassau county. Looking for a one family house. Don't have kids yet, but planning to, so schools are somewhat important.
