Atlanta is not a good comparison to NY as it is the South that supported Slavery. Heck the only way one million people would come and see the Pope in Georgia is if it was a Lynching. Most parts would not let a Catholic Move in.

Come on Sandy. Its not like that anymore. Atlanta is full of churches and Hebrew temples and north easterners . black neighborhoods in downtown areas can be mixed or black and be super expensive. Not to us Nyers but expensive for the south

'Bout the most un-informed, condescending post I've seen.

But it does represent what a lot of people think. Given that so many people get their news from Comedy Central these days, it is not surprising.

But to the original question:
No. My neighbor is black. We knew that when we moved in 13 years ago. Onward and upward.

Sorry, not true. Used to be, but some of the most expensive real estate is now south of the LIE.

I went to Hills West and it's true. But there are a decent amount of black families north of the LIE too, in HHH Melville and even in the part zoned for Commack SD. Whoever said that Dix Hills is segregated is obviously not familiar with the area. Wheatley Heights has by far the largest black population in the district but it's still very mixed itself (and a good area).

Don't get me wrong, Dix Hills is a white town but it's definitely more diverse than any other rich town on LI.

And there is not much of a difference in affluence between north and south of the LIE. Both sides are *mostly* made up of large homes on huge lots (with a COUPLE areas bordering Deer Park being more modest). Heck, they just built a whole bunch of mega-mansions off of Calumet Dr right along the border of Wheatley Heights.

Nobody cares if their neighbor is black before they buy the house.

And the Ku Klux Klan who hates Catholics and Jews maybe is looking for some new places to burn down.
