Thanks for the pic. I was contemplating taking my kids there. They are 3 y/o and 1y/o so I'm not sure how much they will appreciate it. Whats the ticket price? I couldn't find it on their web site.
Definitely check the library! Mine has passes you can borrow and you can go for free. Cradle of Aviation is one of my son's favorite places. We have been many times.
We have also been there many, many times. It's probably the best museum on Long Island. Much smaller than the Smithsonian, of course, but it focuses on Long Island's contribution to the development of aeronautics and space exploration. The other lunar module on display is at NASSA in Florida. I visited this place before it was turned into a museum and was just a hangar, open to the public for tours by appointment.

You can get passes from the library to go for free. Check your library's website; you can probably reserve online. Cradle of Aviation also has a cute playroom for kids under 6. Admission to that is separate so if you think they wouldn't appreciate the entire museum, you can pay something like $2 just for the play area.
i live in queens and nyc has the new nyc id cards which give to free access and 1 YEARS MEMBERSHIP TO LOTS OF THINGS like the zoo and botanical gardens.
