Sprint is not that bad anymore. I jumped ship from AT&T after 17 years and have not regretted it. I know and have heard a lot of horror stories about Sprint's service and their customer service but I have been pleasantly surprised. I have a Galaxy S5 on Verizon from work and Note 4 on Sprint. I carry them around with me all day long and I get just as good, if not better service on the Sprint network than I do on Verizon. And this is in the city and throughout the island.

The only reason I picked Sprint is because they offered me the lowest rate. Tmobile was my first choice but they wanted a lot more.

I've actually been looking into flip phones rather than smart phones. Do flip phones use less data?

Flip phones use no data at all. Some feature phones have limited 3G capabilities.

Agreed, generally speaking most LIers I know have AT&T. Many store locations too which helps.

Unfortunately, no provider covers everything well.
Many of my colleagues who have AT&T complain of poor reception in our office in Huntington

I use Sprint and have found nothing better overall (coverage and price) - but that's for my use pattern; everyone's is different. Yes, there are some dead zones (parts of Cold Spring Harbor for example) but from polling many colleagues, I have heard that no carrier is "perfect".
