I've worked in a bunch of different seasonal industries like swimming pools, landscaping, etc, as well as plumbing, electrical, whatever.
I've had more than my share of dog incidents.
Most problems have been stupid or ignorant owners at fault, not the animal.
None of my personal incidents involved large breed dogs. Every problem I had was with the barking cats. Poodles, chihuahuas, Yorkers, etc...
Worst is, there is NEVER 1. Everyone has to own an entire fleet of them.
Last I heard, you can't get mauled to death by a fleet of toy breeds. Yet one pit bull can do the job.
Its the wannabe tough guy owners that are the problem. - you know the guy- the one with 1001 tattoos, the Metal Mullisha Clothing, the flat brimmed baseball hat - To them pitbulls are just another fashion accoutrement of the great american douchebag.
Bottom line is pit bulls have the most lethal bite. Yes, the toy breeds bite more often. But pit bulls are deadly. You can be the nicest of owners (albeit an idiot)and the dog can be the nicest of dogs. But they're dogs. They don't use reasoning when they bite, it's just a natural instinct.
This is a fair point. Any dog can be a problem under the wrong circumstances, but when pits go off, they're a bigger problem due to their strength. Still, if you cut out all the idiot/tough guy owner situations, the number of legit attacks would probably be too low to register.
They've done some pretty good damage to me.
Mauled to death? Yeah probably not.
Any large breed dog can do you in.
I'll put my money on a pit bull doing me in over a Golden Retriever any day. And I'll take a pack of toys over one pit bull any day. Honestly, you're trying to rationalize at this point.

I'm blaming the owners more than the breed.
I do not own nor have I ever owned a pitbull.
But, I know plenty of people that have and do, and in all my experiences around pitbulls there was only one time I felt uncomfortable. And in that circumstance the owner was truly an idiot so it probably rubbed off on the dog. That's all. Off my podium.

I'm not a fan of pitbulls either. But those tiny toy chihuahuas are vicious little devils. A pack of them would easily kill an adult. I just picture those tiny dinosaurs in one of the jurassic park movies.

Uh, no.
Maybe about 50 of them in a box with you, that's about it. You could kick them all over the place like nobody's business and they aren't smart enough to coordinate an attack.

They are nasty no doubt, but not deadly.
lol. ok. But there was the news of a mom who left her chihuahua in a room with an infant. Sad ending for the infant who didn't know how to defend herself.
