Anyone else getting a strong smell like chlorine or bleach in their tap water? I'm in Bellmore, south of Merrick Rd. My water filter doesn't diminish the smell at all. It only seems to dissipate if I boil the water first. Been like this for about 2 weeks, more pronounced the past few days.

Maybe you need a new filter? My tap water has that issue but not after it's been through my refrigerator filter.

OMG! Yes! We started noticing this recently as well!! Shocked to see someone posting about it here. Normally our water is great. This is first time we ever had a problem. Going to ask my neighbors later if theirs is the same way when I see them later. Call water company. We will too. They might have flushed the hydrants. Last time they did that this happened as well.

No, it's not normal. Not at this strength. This smell is so strong that when I bring a glass of water up to my face to drink, I get a whiff and NO WAY am I drinking that. I'm not due for a filter change but I might do it anyway and see if there's a change. Washing dishes with unfiltered hot water and the smell is overpowering. I wash dishes every day and I would have noticed if it was this strong several weeks ago. It's only been the last week or two.

I would guess your filter may be wearing out more quickly because of you water. What you describe is exactly how my water is before it's filtered.

I live in South merrick and for the past 2 weeks noticed the strong chlorine smell. Noticed it a lot when In the shower my skin would even smell like it very strange. This is the first time in 5years of living here that I smelled it like this. I called longisland Aqua and told them my issue they came and flushed out two near by hydrants for 20min. After that I let my house water run for a while and the smell is some what gone. Over the weekend I orderd a whole house water filter. For the price it was you can't go wrong.

That was it, the filter did wear out quicker so I changed it and the smell is gone from the filtered water... but the unfiltered water (washing dishes, showering) is so overpowering.
