Work..now that an interesting but foreign concept to some people. Some don't HAVE to work & have too much time on their hands & use tax dollars for odd purposes.

Another broad daylight robbery in Rockville Centre.

And this happened right in the neighborhood where I grew up. It was always a very safe area. Can't leave doors unlocked anymore.

This is what I was talking about earlier. Even if there aren't many criminals on your town, they are mobile and can easily travel to your town to commit crime. Which is why even if you don't live in, say, Hempstead, you should care about the problems being dumped there.
Criminals, felons, do not belong anywhere, except in jail.
Consider how many more people live on Long Island, yet no new jails have been built for the longest time!
We all have an interest to make our communities safe, and we need to stop the dumping of ex-cons, sex offenders, and illegals into certain towns because it affects ALL OF US.
PLEASE STOP your annoying.

As I posted in the other recent crime thread, violent crime is up 11% nationwide in 2015. That's a huge number. If crime went down by that amount the police and pols wouldn't stop patting themselves on the back.

Those awful liberals are the ones who established your safety net (which, don't get me wrong, I totally support) and which your conservative "friends" seek to dismantle.

What an outdated criticism, property values in Queens are higher on average than those of Suffolk County, plus Queens is more desirable in a broader sense than Long Island

And neither illegals or drug addicts are responsible for your shortcomings
Queens is more desirable than Suffolk? Couldn't disagree more. Opinionated post of the year.

Well, property in Queens commends a higher price than Suffolk and demand is higher, so objectively...

I guess so, but that's just due to the general overblowing of the NYC area. It's just like how everything is more expensive in Times Square. It's a joke.

That's a weird analogy.

Houses in Queens are not overpriced to rip off tourists. There are a lot of factors at play, though, in Queens that are not at play in Suffolk, namely foreign cash buyers (which is also a factor in western North Shore Nassau) and a lot of housing being bought with a view to rent out (which is why a house in Corona can be more expensive than a house in Roslyn Heights).

Neighborhoods like Astoria, LIC, Sunnyside, (parts of) Jackson Heights, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, North Flushing, Auburndale, Whitestone, Bayside, Little Neck, Douglaston, Fresh Meadows, Oakland Gardens, Jamaica Estates, Howard Beach, Belle Harbor, Neponsit, Hollis Hills, and Middle Village are all very, very desirable, with prices that reflect it. Just because Queens doesn't appeal to you, doesn't mean a whole lot of people want to live there who would never consider Suffolk County.
