I have lived in Lakeview Long Island for 32 yrs. It is a beautiful quiet hamlet next to Hempstead Lake State Park. Just to let you know, we have the least amout of problems for a small hamlet. We have neighbors that care for each other. The community takes pride in their property. There are as many gardeners in this community in any given week when compared with Rockeville Centre and Garden City.

Considering purchase of a house where we could walk to this park (over a bridge, from RVC). What is the park (and it's 'occupants') like? ie, is it a family park, or a teenage hoodlum hangout?
Any inights are appreciated... thanks.
Hempstead Lake State Park is very nice to walk around in. Don't believe otherwise. I, myself, was looking at a house in RVC and the MAIN appeal for me was the ability to walk over that nearby footbridge and walk around or jog in Hempstead Lake State Park.
"Residents of Lakeview cannot agree on the community's crime rate: one group says it's low and the other says it's at an all-time high."
Quote:
"In Lakeview, there has been an ongoing dispute between two community groups about the frequency and presence of crime. While Nassau County Police Department statistics indicate that the crime rate in Lakeview is low, there are some who claim it is at an all-time high in the 1.2-square-mile hamlet."
^^ All that the article is saying is that the level of crime can not be agreed on and some say it's a low-crime area and some say that it is a higher-crime area. If it was a higher crime area than trust me, EVERYBODY there would know it!
