they desperately need a sign at lakeville and marcus . no one knows you can make a right as there is no sign and a traffic camera there .
the line backs up daily as folks sit and sit waiting for that light
What kind of sign?
Just because you can make a turn on red that means you have to. Some people don't feel comfortable making that right. I find it annoying to behind these drivers as well
a sign like they have at alot of intersections close to the city line where people are confused , right turn permitted on red .
just because you don't want to , does not mean the law isn't the law . we have speed limit signs that say 55 . should we not have them because you don't like going 55 either ?
Yes it's confusing as a lot of people don't know the borders of Nassau and Queens
I love making turns on red when I am permitted. I noticed some drivers don't. It's annoying but I respect that. The best analogy is a driver who goes 50 in a 55 zone....where most drivers go 60-65. If some drivers go 50, that is fine....just keep to the right lane if possible. I respect that despite being a bit annoying to me personally
The 3 second rule is not true. As long as you came to a full stop you are ok. Perhaps there was a " no turn permitted on red sign or when pedestrians are present" sign?
I was stopped at this light today going east on Union Turnpike and I watched three cars in a row make a rolling right turn on a full red. I was in the middle lane and watched the wheels on each car and they slowed to a crawl but clearly did not come to a complete stop not even for a split second. Have they gotten more lenient on right on red turns? I find it hard to believe that three drivers in a row didn't know about the red light cameras at this intersection.
^ how can anyone not expect cameras everywhere now? How many years has it been since they've been around?
It will be an expensive lesson. More money to go toward paying public employees what they've been promised. Yup, you can thank the greedy working man for taking away from fellow citizens there too.
The destitute grifter county needs the money, so expect expensive GOTCHAS! everywhere. Personally, I avoid making a right at intersections like these and watch the status of the light carefully. They would concoct another kind of gimmee to gouge residents if everyone drove the way I do.
Think of LI as a big banana peel. They want you to slip up and pay up.
