I was born in Manhattan and my parent's first apartment was in the Bronx, in my maternal grandmother's building. It was located on the Gran Concourse, which was once a very nice area. Relatives on both sides of the family lived on the Concourse and in Riverdale. When my dad was 12, his family moved to Queens, which my Grandmother refereed to as "the country".
We lived in the Bronx until I was 2. Then my parents relocated to another apartment in Great Neck. We lived there another couple of years, and moved to Oyster Bay, where I grew up.
I like doing stuff upstate and beyond (snowboarding, hiking, etc). Living on LI, driving through the bronx to go upstate is a major pain in ass. As others mentioned, I think its also a little easier to go into the city from Westchester than LI.
We are from out of state. I'm from Florida and wifey is from South Carolina. I've lived in South Carolina for 20 years before moving up here this week.
My great grandpa's family was among one of the first jewish families on LI! Came over from Russia
I'm a native though... Never leaving
Really? You must be quite old. The first settlement was on eastern Long Island during the 1790s and they came from the Caribbean and Western Europe.
