My Nissan Rogue was stolen from the Hicksville train station lot on this past Friday.
My daughters customized wheelchair was in the back and she 7 years old and has muscular dystrophy.
The Rouge is a silver 2009, old NYS white plate #ALK1838
What would be the best way to get the word out about finding this vehicle should it be abandoned somewhere?
I called news channel 12 to see if they would grant an interview to keep an eye out because of the loss of the wheelchair but they did not bite.
Any reply would be appreciated. Thanks!
Sorry to hear about this...I would post a photo of car/wheelchair on Facebook's town and media pages like news 12 or fox 5 etc. Also on the LIRR, I overheard somebody say they got notice that thefts are increasing among unlocked cars in Hicksville area so make sure you lock your cars. Hope you get it all back.
Did you try contacting any of the other local news stations? And maybe more than one person if you don't get a favorable response? i.e. it might not be of interest to the 6 o'clock news crew but maybe the early morning anchors could say a quick word?
Otherwise, there are online community resources like Patch and other newsletters or message boards that might have people who are more sympathetic to your pain. Also use Google to see if there is a local crime blotter and make sure your car's info is on there.
Maybe even try sending a message to a site like Gothamist? Just to get the word out and have as many eyes on the lookout as possible.
Social network -- Facebook if you have: post to your page, your community page, local lost and founds, News12LI's page, your local Patch page, your daughter's school page...
