Actually what I do is, I hand the clerk let's say a $10, when they give me the change I say "hey bro I gave you a $20" they look puzzled and confused and think for a moment and then just give me the change of a $20. 60% of the time it works every time.
If I am owed 2 cents change, I want my 2 cents. I'm not a charity.
I've found that sometimes stores and fast food places will take a few cents less than the total rather than hand me back a lot of change. For example if something costs $5.07 and I have a $5 bill and a nickel they'll take that rather than making change from $6.

No? It's not about purposely getting back the wrong amount of change? Or in my case none at all? Then please explain.
I think what they're trying to say is that you were being blatantly ripped off. I disagree. What difference does it make if it's $15 or $.02? It's my money unless I say don't worry about it. I shouldn't have to try to figure out the clerk's intentions.
