Now (or at least 13 years from now) they'll finally start graduating bright kids at Harborfields, doing well in rankings and tests, and building a strong reputation for the district. OK, I am being sarcastic.
As I noted before this was the perfect time to finally do it in terms of cost - they now have the space in the elementary school and the enrollment (like so many other school districts) is down quite a bit (less kids to offer full day to).
A little off the topic and I know there were many issues in play but somewhat surprised neighboring Elwood's cap-busting budget didn't hit 60%. Their proposed budget was a very low 0.68 percent increase in spending. The only other failure on LI was in microscopic Tuckahoe (also a cap-buster). The other 6 cap busters and ALL the other districts passed (with wide margins).
