Thank you for you for reply. Yeah NYC is certainly a safe bet, I gotta figure out the commute options though..I keep seeing LIRR and is that most common way regular commuters use to go to NYC?
You DO NOT want to commute to the City. Between getting to the train station; parking; the hour and a half ride to the City; going from the terminal to your job, you're looking at adding an extra 4 hours a day just for the commute. And driving would be no better. Not to even mention the added cost of commuting.
At least if you can find something in Bohemia or Hauppague, you're looking at a less-than-30-minute commute. (Might want to use the zip codes for Bohemia/Ronk./Holbrook/Sayville, as they all come together down in a common area along Vets Hwy (454)- and an easy commute from 3V, right down Nicholls Rd. or Stony Brook Rd/Hawkins Ave., depending where exactly in 3V you are.
Commuting to the city will be very tough and costly but if you find an opportunity that pays well and could lead you somewhere then you might have to jump on it. I don't think we have the luxury anymore to be selective as to where we can find work, especially when you are living from paycheck to paycheck.
How many years of .net programming skills do you have?
I hear ya! I've got more than 10 years of experience, hands on and a good mix of managing developers too!

lots of IT jobs in Stamford, Greenwich, New Haven. take PJ ferry to Bridgeport and connect up with Metro North up there. More folks do this than you would think.

How much would that cost? Last time I took the ferry was pretty pricey.

$235 monthly for a walk-on. Since the poster lives in Three Village, parking sticker at PJ is something like $25 for the season. You can walk to Metro North station in Bridgeport from the BP ferry terminal in two minutes.

That would take as long or longer than commuting to the City. Time is our most precious commodity.
true, but taking the ferry beats the LIRR hands down. Then again, having root canal beats taking the LIRR hands down.
HAhaha, I have to agree with you 100% there!
