I'm looking to convert my single car garage into a den/TV room. The house was built in the 50's and the garage has never been touched, so it would need insulation, drywall, flooring, updated electrical, and connection to the gas heat and CAC in my home. I would keep the existing garage door and seal it, and add 1-2 windows and a door to connect to my living room. Does anyone know what something like this might cost? I'm trying to weight whether it's worth the conversion or adding a new addition off my kitchen instead.
A garage conversion will not break the bank and you can get away with doing it on the cheap. Drywall, insulatuion, flooring and electrical should not cost you that much. Instead of tapping into your existing HVAC you can save a lot if you go with electric floorboard heating and a wall mounted AC. Once you start tapping into your HVAC your estimates will balloon.
