I live in an apartment complex in Brookhaven. I got a notice two days ago from the landlord that the Brookhaven Town Inspector will be entering the apartments with the Superintendent on Friday. This applies to all the apartments, not just mine

Why does Brookhaven Town need to see the inside of my apartment? What are they looking for? They don't go around inspecting people's houses. I don't understand how this is even legal

Thanks

Could be making sure that the complex owner is supplying all apartments with smoke and CO detectors.

Inspections are required in most of Suffolk and Nassau counties. Inspectors will check for code violations, potential fire hazards and occupancy limit violations.
