In most cases we're talking about a ranch style Levitt which came with an attached garage. I believe since the kitchen area is so small most people who convert the garage extend the kitchen or turn it into an eating/dining room area.

I think it's personal preference, but I agree with the Levitts and having no storage space otherwise. My in-laws live in one with a converted garage. They wind up storing the weirdest stuff in their house!

I think the garage is far more valuable than another finished room to dust.
My parent's first house was in Levittown. There was a garage which share a wall with the living room/dining area of the kitchen. They moved for a bigger house.

I could see someone breaking through the wall in their old house to create a larger living room and a dining room area, or to allow them to reconfigure the first floor.

That would be a deal breaker for us especially my husband if there was no Garage or it was converted into living space.
