I don't believe it is reasonable to expect to support a household and make $50k+ on a part-time job at Burger King.

It isn't reasonable but it is reality that a lot people deal with. Maybe it isn't 1 to 1000, but my point was if you are making $50/hour, you are doing way better than most people in NYC.

In most industries, you would need to be a supervisor or manager to rake in $50/hr. Common sense tells you that there are more rank and file employees than supervisors.

His salary might sound good (A shade over Cuomo's $125K cut off for free college) but when you take into account the things I previously listed, and the fact that we are trying to save as much as possible for retirement, things can get tight.

I have put away a small amount each month for my children college. My parents couldn't afford to pay anything towards my college education. I had a Regents Scholarship, received TAP and PELL grants. I worked part time whenever I had a break from school to help pay. It isn't a windfall, but it will make things a little easier.

You know LI is synonymous with taxes when you get a thread sticky.

You know we're getting it up the rear when we get sticky.
