I was speaking to a friend the other day from New Jersey. Well they got them to remove all the red light camera's.. How you ask?
Well everyone that got the ticket choose to fight it in court. So many people did so that they stopped the program. By the time they paid the court officers, judges investigation team, the maintenance fee's for the camera's and anyone else that gets paid the state was LOSING money. So they stopped the program. I found it very interesting when he was speaking.
You tell us new ways to produce revenue around here... because that's been the point. It's not just to "screw my constituents". Absolutely this is another tax - that doesn't involve everyone. If they were quickening the lights or legitimately ticketing drivers who do stop (actually stop), then I'd be behind fighting back.
There are fairly active groups on facebook - one covering Nassau residents against cameras, another for Suffolk. You are likely to get a more congenial response there. Seems folks here enjoy loss of rights and a bigger, more intrusive, money-grabbing government.
I don't know why there's so much opposition to red light cameras.
