Teacher outlook on LI

Do you REALLY want to become a teacher? If you're young, consider other employment opportunities. From what I hear, the whole field is a mess. Why do that to yourself?

Thank you for all the replies! It appears that the public education system on Long Island has changed a whole lot since I left 5 years ago. I don't see why I'd go back if the only way I'm going to find a position is if I "know" someone in the school system. I'll keep my options open. Maybe I'll put in a few applications from an afar and see what happens.
