- good, hope it's not too late in the overall picture - can we turn this ship around?
- hope it sets a precedent - something for all future politicians to consider
- surprised the feds actually did something
Always felt these guys were dirty and corrupt. Guy goes from janitor to county exec what a joke. He will be cleaning floors for a long time now. He will have time to think about all his inflated red light ticket camera surcharges in his new 8x8 office.

Sadly I doubt it, some other political machine/corrupt administration will just take their place most likely.
Nassau County is one of, maybe the most corrupt local government in the country.
Has been for quite some time. Both parties are equally as dirty and in cahoots with each other. So when one party points fingers at the other don't believe that crap, it's all part of the game. Dirty scumbags, all of them.

Unfortunately, I think that you are right. It goes back to pre-Alphonse times.
I have a friend who has a low level Nassau County Civil Service job. The building where she works is filled with Mangano and Alphonse connections/family. I scratch my head here on CD when people are outraged at teachers and cops because they don't really know where the real deadwood falls. I have met people through this friend who are way past retirement age and they boast how they come to work to the clerical job that they have had for 30-40 years and read the newspaper everyday. They refuse to retire, but why should they.
They go to the political breakfasts, say "hello," make sure that they give a nice donation every now and then.
For some, the now-deceased husbands were part of the circle. These people have gotten other family/friends jobs, sometimes bypassing the so-called civil service exam lists or sometimes they notify friends when the exam will be given, making sure that they are on the list and then getting them a job. Don't mind the ladies who work in school district offices or the libraries, if that's how they got the job because they actually do something. But I do resent the ones in county/village offices who come to work and do absolutely nothing but eat the food that they bring with them and then sit around.
