Hi all- What are your thoughts on Meadow Street in Garden city right now? (Yard facing the willow side, not sure if this makes a difference but thought I would mention it). Off of Clinton Rd. I would love to hear feedback from those who actually live on this street/know someone who lives on the street if possible. The street itself looks so lovely, tree lined and well kept. Though I did a search on here and was a little unsettled to see what I found...the posts were from a while ago. Thanks in advance!

DH grew up in GC and has friends who live in the homes they grew up in, now. Meadow is a lovely street in and of itself and for the most part is very well maintained. It is not the street, it is the location that makes it less desirable. It borders Hempstead and all that comes with it. Is it for you? Only you can decide if you are comfortable living there. I will offer my opinion and that is all it is. It has been a border block as long as it is around and homes have sold there over the years. I would rather not live there, as I would prefer to be out of GC if that were the only block I could afford. Remember, the old adage, location, location, location, the location will never change. Again, just my opinion.
The further away from Clinton Road going east the better. There aren't too many cut-throughs between GC and Hempstead and the ones that do exist down there are residential.
Why do you think the prices on that street are 200k less than the next block? Not only is it right next to the worst town in Nassau, but also there are several multi-family homes and rentals. There is foot traffic from Hempstead that cuts through there on the way to the mall. Not worth the trouble. Garden City is a cliquey town, and you'll always feel the stigma of living on the worst street.
