I live in Islip just south of Applebees in Eat Islip on a corner lot. I came home Monday to find orange cones in front of my retaining wall, by Wednesday the side walk was all gone and there were wood forms placed to prepare for cement. I have a driveway apron but I also have a smaller apron on the other side closer to the corner. It's been there for years. It was there when I bought the house in 2003. Anyway they fixed that too. I believe it was the state who did the work and it seems they are doing in other areas as well. Does anyone know why? I am glad to have a new sidewalk but I guess they don't notify homeowners' this is being done.
Hubby, was it raised at all? IN the TNH, if there is any indication of a tripping hazard they will replace rather than risk a lawsuit. Also if, you are are a corner are there any utilities such as an electrical pole or telephone pole on the corner? Sometimes it is the easement that needs to be accessed for lines etc.
Yes there is a utility pole there. but the sidewalk was not raised so no trip and fall hazard. I am thinking they needed to get to some lines underground. Still not done, well I mean they haven't cleaned any thing up as far as dirt in the street or removal of the orange cones and caution tape.
