They love Long Beach because there are many single people their age. Also they are more into the adult bar scene than the younger club scene and Long Beach is loaded with bars. Also, there is a beach with a boardwalk which is a nice draw in the summer. Long Beach tends to be expensive, but all of the people that I know that live there love it.

I know some 20s/30s who live there and love it. Have you ever been to Paddy McGees or any of those other bar/restaurants in Long Beach?

Any recommendations for which areas in Queens? I'm thinking Bayside, Astoria, Sunnyside..? I want a young-ish area (30s) with a suburban feel, but yet still urban (can walk places)
I loved Whitestone- it's more residential/suburban, but I found that much of my needs could be taken care of on foot- I lived near the grocery store, the gym, liquor store, pizza place, nail salon, library. Many times I'd park the car on Friday and not get into it again till work on Monday.

Dating in Manhattan is the pits. I had no luck with native NY guys- I married a transplant.

I have been to Long Beach bars in the summer, but they all seem young to me? (Like Minessota's).. sorry don't know correct spelling for that!

I will look into Whitestone-- but yes, I want an area that's pretty suburban, but urban enough so that I can walk to places and not HAVE to drive everywhere. Definitely want to get away from college crowd as well, having lived right next to BU last year..
