I'm not all LED yet... but my first electric bill came in under $100 and I think that was actually 5 weeks. Pretty new LG fridge and german dishwasher, washer and dryer are old but trusty, oven is electric, microwave same age as the oven ~10-12 years old. Helps that it's just my wife and I.. house is 1700q ft.
I pay $44.95 to optimum for 60/10 internet... No cable, I have Netflix and Amazon Prime but I kind of cheat because I use my parents' FiOS email to get all the cable TV shows and apps. Phone is free from Google Voice via and OBiHai OBi200 VoIP adapter. I'm going to look into solar after I replace my roof in a couple years. As far as heating I keep the stat low for now, my fireplace hasn't been used in a LONG time according to the previous homeowners, so that's getting checked out spring/summer and I'll look into a blower at that time too.
At Costco they are *really* affordable and the 60 watt equiv they carry is one of the best in the business. Don't get crappy ones.
Costco also sells an LED tube light that slots into old fluorescent sockets. These are normally really expensive online or at other stores. Costco's are compatible even with old fluorescent fixtures (no need for any retrofitting). They are really impressive - so long buzz, flicker and fluorescent hue. Godsend for my basement.
What are the costs for the 4ft ones? I was thinking of these but they are normally expensive. I currently have the old school T12 bulbs. Do the costco ones need to have the baluster modified or is it a direct fit. This would save me so much time if I didn't have to install 12 highats in the basement to go LED.
I hate the buzz! Last weekend i cut the damn wire and put in a junction box to get rid of the one that was buzzing so freaking loud.

It's a direct fit. I had the old-school T12s as well. I do not remember the exact price, but its a no-brainer.
You do give up some efficiency, though, compared to a normal LED. But I wouldn't worry about it.
@rocafeller05 did you get your attic re-insulated recently? Just bought my home in Huntington and the attic insulation is pretty sparse, would like to update it to save on heating. Any company recommendations that do it, or DIY?
Solar panels. Bill went from $310/mo (and climbing forever) to a semi-fixed $208/mo ($198/loan, $10 PSEG charge) for 12 years. Nothing out of pocket. Buy, DON'T lease (unless you cannot get the rebates/tax credits). Do it SOON. Trump and Co. will likely yank the incentives sooner than later.
I would love to cut cable out completely and just have internet but there are 1 or 2 shows that I watch that I don't think the new episodes are available until a few weeks to months later. That just won't fly for me. I gotta have my Walking Dead!

I found them online. These most likely wont work for me since I have the really old magnetic ballast. You probably have an electric balast! High Hats are the same price when on sale compared to these bulbs. Next time my in laws come over for the weekend I will do the lights. This job will take me a solid 4-8 hours by myself thus avoiding them.

most of my light bulbs are LED especially the ones outside, I have high hats under my soffits. some of my lamps have energy saver bulbs. I don't keep a lot of lights on and only keep the ones on in the room I am using. My house is about 840 SQ ft. and my bill is about $115 a month for electric. The only small appliance I keep unplugged when not in use is my toaster oven. Even inn the summer with 2 window A/C's on all day my electric bill stays the same.
