What's wrong with Carle Place?
Homes are cheap and they look nice.
Nearby schools are rated high.
LIRR, Meadowbrook Parkway is nearby.
None to low crimes

I know Westbury is right next door but is that the problem?

Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't be buying a place at Carle Place?

This looks like the same issue with Salisbury which is southeast of Westbury.

Very congested area. Traffic is pretty bad and even worse during the holiday shopping season.
It's fine if that doesn't bother you too much. Typical burb.

I live in Carle Place.

Liir is Close.
Not much traffic.
Everything is close by.
Great Schools. Which is the only reason anyone would ever live on Long island.

Once School is finished and kids are grown.. Adirondacks... Vermont... who knows.

But since I grew up in Queens. The things I miss are. Being able to just take a walk. Food choices, being close to Manhattan.
Yes the homes are small. But they are enough for a family.

Yes, but if you are local, you know how to avoid the traffic. I seldom drive on old country road on a Sat afternoon. There are plenty of bad road to avoid.

On the other side, I can hit 3-4 stores in an hour. So, depends what you looking for.

I guess cheap is relative! School district is small (could be a plus or minus depending on your thinking), quite a few homes don't have basements...Salisbury is good, too. Similar homes to Carle Place, but it's part of the East Meadow school district, which is much bigger than Carle Place.

On LI and you don't need a bullet proof vest to cut your grass or a bulldozer because that's how ****ty the condition of the house is...
Then yes, $400 is a steal. For LI.

Pretty funny reading this.

People do realize you can live in western suffolk, literally a few miles over the border, and get something pretty damn nice for 400 - 450, right?

Hell, even Dix Hills looks cheap nowadays compared to just ok areas in nassau that are like 10 minutes west.

Just look at plainview bethpage area. Houses are a lot bigger for 500 600k. Yes, 400 for 40x100 cape seems expensive to me.
