I know there are some areas like terrace avenue is not safe, but I believe there are still some area in Hempstead village not so bad.
How about the location @Stowe Place & Main Street? Is it a good idea to buy a multifamily house here for rent as an investment?

I am living in queens and not so familiar this area, any comments or suggestion is appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

I don't think Hempstead is ever an investment. The market is full of houses for sale so the price of the home you like looks good. Schools are terrible and you pay high taxes.
Even if it's safe, the buyer will always consider schools.

Metro 303 is on that block and I heard a few cars were robbed while in the parking lot.
Apparently someone was murdered in front of the apt in 2014.

I would advise not buying.

Thanks Ubering for your opinion. Yes, the house price is less than half price of other area. That's why I want check the safety there...

The price alone is a good indicator. Then you should think about who might want to live there to see the pool of the renters you might get.

There's always money to be made as a slumlord if you have experience in that area but it takes a certain kind of disposition.

I wouldn't want to be a slumlord in NY. Tenants have too many rights - how many times do you want to collect no rent, go to court, and have to pay the sheriff to evict deadbeat tenants?

Like I said, takes a certain disposition. There's plenty of money to be made even with all the hassles.

Definitely, but I couldn't sleep at night. I guess the trick is to load up on Section 8 tenants and skimp on maintenance until the town threatens to sue.
