This is funny - someone is posting trying to save her job. Sorry - Laura Curran isn't that stupid and the attorneys hired in 2016 - outside civil service - are all under investigation as part of a lawsuit along with many other illegally hired jobs - in fact - Newsday reported Karle Kampe's civil service commission sued the medical center for illegal hiring that occurred under Ryan's watch.
Newsday also reported that Ryan is a republican committee woman - so yes - her political connections go very deep whether or not John is her daddy which may or may not be true.
And if you bother looking her up on linkedin - you'll see she herself reported that her first job was with O'reilly Marsh - a politically connected firm - she moved from there to liberty mutal's Martyn Toher firm for 7 years- doing insurance defense. That's personal injury - people fall down, cars run into a pot hole, cars crash - dime store legal work and no fault. Nothing to do with health care, hospital operations, or even contract or corporate work.
From there she went to the medical center working on a committee with politically connected northwell attorneys based on funding brought in by a politically connected senator - actually now I believe he's a former senator currently in jail for granting political favors & jobs to people. The whole point of the committee she was hired to work on was to "redirect" medicaid payments - in other words - moving medicaid patients out of hospitals to outpatient clinics to get them off the hospitals budget. After serving on that committee - which actually did what I've havent' heard since Newsday never followed up on it - she became the Executive VP at NUMC. EXECUTIVE VP after serving on a useless committee for a year. And ONE year later - becomes the general counsel. NO experience.
Her own linkedin profile supports that. Surprised she didn't delete it yet.
Each promotion seem to come after she had another kid and went out maternity leaves. Kids are expensive so I guess justified the bump in salary. It looks like she only graduated from law school 10 or 11 years ago but you could look her when she passed her licensing test online too.
Why would you dredge up a dead thread just to defend an indefensible hire? Anyhow - pretty sure she's done now along with half the legal staff she hired so it really no longer matters.
